Magnetic drilling machines and accessories from Promash

The magnetic drilling machine is carried to the workpiece, not the other way round. You attach it with the electromagnet to the beam, the column or the sheet and drill holes up to 50 mm with a core drill — horizontally, vertically and overhead. At Promash there are 17 Optimum and Metallkraft magnetic drilling machines with prices from €679 to €1,678.80, all for 230 V.

What types of magnetic drilling machines are there?

Magnetic drilling machines are divided by the maximum diameter with a core drill — with us 35, 38 and 50 mm — by power and by weight. All have an electromagnetic base and run on 230 V, and on most models the speed is adjustable, for example from 100 to 800 rpm on the Metallkraft MB 351 BL-V.

Compact models up to 35–38 mm

The OPTIdrill DM 35 V, DM 38 VF and Metallkraft MB 351 BL-V are for installers and welders who carry the machine around the site. The DM 35 V weighs 10.8 kg, drills with a core drill up to Ø35 mm and with a drill bit up to Ø13 mm, and the magnet holds with 14.8 kN.

Powerful models up to 50 mm

The DM 50 V, DM 50 PM and Metallkraft MB 502 BL-V work with core drills up to Ø50 mm. The DM 50 V weighs about 11 kg and holds with 15.6 kN. The DM 50 PM has a 1.7 kW motor, a magnetic force of 16.5 kN, a 3/4″ Weldon holder and a drilling depth of 50 mm — for thick flat bars and beams.

How to choose a magnetic drilling machine?

Choose according to the largest hole you will make and the thickness of the material. For holes up to 35 mm in profiles and flat bars a compact model at €679–701 is sufficient. For Ø40–50 mm and thick metal take a machine of the 50 mm class, so as not to work at the limit of its capabilities.

  • Diameter with a core drill. 35 mm (DM 35 V, DM 35 PF, MB 351 BL-V), 38 mm (DM 38 VF), 50 mm (DM 50 V, DM 50 PM, MB 502 BL-V).
  • Power. All models are between 1.55 and 1.75 kW and run on 230 V — you plug them into an ordinary socket or a generator on site.
  • Speed. Adjustable speed helps when you change core drills from small to large and work with stainless steel.
  • Weight and magnet. A lighter machine is easier to carry up a ladder, a stronger magnet holds more securely on thin material.

Core drills and drill bits are replaced more often than the machine. You will find HSS TiAlN core drill sets and other consumables in the drilling accessories.

Comparison of popular models

All seven models run on 230 V. The differences are in power, in maximum diameter and in price — the table shows the five we are asked about most often.

What is a magnetic drilling machine used for?

The magnetic drilling machine is the tool of the metal structure installer. It is used when erecting halls and canopies, in shipbuilding, in the repair of bridges and machines — wherever the workpiece is too large or already installed and cannot go under a pillar drilling machine.

A core drill cuts only a ring out of the metal, so the hole is made quickly and with less effort than with a twist drill of the same diameter. When the workpieces are small and come to the machine, the pillar drilling machine is more convenient.

Why buy a magnetic drilling machine from Promash?

The magnetic drilling machine works in harsh conditions and sooner or later will need service. With us you buy it from the official importer and know where to bring it.

  • Official importer for Bulgaria, partner of Stürmer Maschinen.
  • Warranty and post-warranty service.
  • Quality control before shipping.
  • Technical experts at your disposal for choosing a machine and core drills.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a magnetic drilling machine cost?

From €679 for the OPTIdrill DM 35 V to €1,349 for the OPTIdrill DM 50 PM. There is also a 50 mm capacity model for €744 — the OPTIdrill DM 50 V. Prices include VAT.

Can a magnetic drilling machine work with ordinary drill bits?

Yes, as well as with core drills. The DM 35 V and DM 50 PM, for example, accept twist drills up to Ø13 mm. For larger holes a core drill is used.

Will the magnet hold on thin sheet metal?

The electromagnet needs sufficiently thick steel material beneath it. On thin sheet metal the holding force drops. If you are drilling thin sheet, ask us before buying.

Can I see the machine before I buy it?

In our showroom in Plovdiv, 47 Kuklensko Shose Blvd, there are over 200 machines. Opening hours: Monday–Friday, 09:00–18:00. Call +359 882 477 388 so we can confirm whether the model is on display.

How do I pay and how is it delivered?

We deliver with Pigeon Express to an address or office; the delivery price is shown at checkout and paid to the courier on receipt. Shipments over 400 kg are delivered by arrangement. Payment by bank transfer, cash on delivery or in instalments with tbi bank and UniCredit.
