Bench grinders and polishing machines from Promash

The bench grinder is one of the most-used machines in the workshop: you sharpen a chisel and a drill, clean off rust, remove burrs, shape a workpiece. The double bench grinder carries two abrasive wheels on one shaft, and the combination models have a brush or a belt grinder. At Promash there are 45 Optimum bench grinders and polishing machines with prices from €57.60 to €7,398.

What types of bench grinders are there?

We offer bench grinders in five types: GU double bench grinders for the workshop, combination bench grinders with a wire brush, bench grinders with a belt grinder, GZ industrial bench grinders with a cast iron body and polishing machines. The wheel diameter is from 150 to 400 mm, and the power from 0.45 to 4.4 kW.

GU double bench grinders

GU 15, GU 18, GU 20, GU 25 and GU 30 — with a wheel of 150 to 300 mm. The small ones run on 230 V and 2,850 rpm, and the GU 30 has a 300 × 50 mm wheel, 2.2 kW and 1,450 rpm.

GU B combination bench grinders with a brush

One shaft carries an abrasive wheel, the other a wire brush for cleaning off rust and paint. The GU 15 B and GU 18 B are for 230 V, the GU 25 B has a 250 mm wheel and 1.5 kW.

GU S bench grinder with a belt grinder

The GU 20S, GU 25S and GU 30S combine a grinding wheel and an abrasive belt. The GU 20S comes with a 762 × 75 mm belt and runs on 230 V or 400 V. Convenient when you have room for only one machine.

GZ industrial bench grinders and polishing machines

The OPTIgrind GZ industrial bench grinders are for everyday work in the shop, and the GZ D, GZ DD and GZ 40C models are made in Italy. The DD models, such as the GZ 20DD, have built-in extraction, the GZ 25 C a wire brush, and the GZ 40C a 400 mm wheel and 4.4 kW. The OPTIpolish GU 20P, GU 25P, GU 35P and GZ 40P polishing machines come with polishing wheels.

How to choose a bench grinder?

Choose a bench grinder according to the wheel size and how much it will be used. For a home workshop a 150–200 mm double bench grinder for 230 V is enough. For a service station and a shop, where the bench grinder works all day, take a 250–300 mm model or an industrial GZ with a cast iron body. If you will be cleaning off rust, add a brush.

  • Wheel diameter: 150, 175, 200, 250, 300, 350 and 400 mm. A larger wheel grinds faster and wears more slowly.
  • Speed: the small models run at 2,850 rpm, the large ones from 300 mm upwards — at 1,400–1,450 rpm.
  • Power supply: the GU 15, GU 18 and some of the GU 20 are for 230 V, the larger ones for 400 V.
  • Body and extraction: the industrial GZ have a cast iron body; the DD models have a built-in dust extraction system.

What is a bench grinder used for?

The bench grinder is used for sharpening drills, chisels, lathe tools and tools, for removing burrs and rust, for rough shaping of parts and for polishing. It is found in metal and fitters' workshops, car repair shops, carpentry shops and almost every garage.

If you mainly sharpen drills and tools at an angle, a specialised sharpening machine is more accurate — see the sharpening machines. For a belt grinder as a stand-alone machine there are the belt grinders.
