Drilling machines from Promash

Stationary metal drilling machines are the foundation of every workshop — from the craftsman's garage to the production shop. At Promash you will find 82 Optimum and Metallkraft drilling machines in four types: bench, pillar, magnetic and radial, plus over 100 drilling accessories. Machine prices start at €254 and go up to €20,700.

What types of metal drilling machines are there?

A drilling machine is chosen according to where the workpiece is and how large a hole you need. The bench model is for small holes on the workbench, the pillar model for large holes and production runs, the magnetic one goes to the workpiece on site, and the radial one drills large workpieces without you having to move them.

Bench drilling machines

22 models from €254 to €3,803, with a capacity of 13 to 28 mm and power of 0.35 to 1.5 kW. Most run on 230 V. This is the most sought-after drilling machine — for hobby use, repairs and small workshops.

Pillar drilling machines

37 models from €822 to €17,124, drilling from 25 to 55 mm. There are models with automatic spindle feed and three models for 230 V. For shops and workshops where the drilling machine works every day.

Magnetic drilling machines

17 models from €679 to €1,678.80, with core drills up to Ø35, 38 or 50 mm, all on 230 V. The machine is attached to the structure by an electromagnet and drills in place — for installing metal structures.

Radial drilling machines

The compact RB 6T and RB 8S for €630 and €754.80, and the heavy-duty RD 4 with a capacity of 32 mm for €20,700. The spindle moves along the arm above the workpiece.

How to choose a metal drilling machine?

Ask yourself three questions: what is the largest hole in steel, what power supply do you have (230 or 400 V), and do you bring the workpiece to the machine or the machine to the workpiece. From these three answers the choice usually comes down to two or three models.

  • Up to 16 mm, 230 V, workshop: a bench drilling machine from the DQ series — from €254 to €660.
  • Up to 25 mm without three-phase power: the D 23 Pro bench model or the DP 26F pillar model in the 230 V version.
  • 30–55 mm and production work: a DH pillar drilling machine with automatic feed.
  • Drilling on site, in beams and columns: a magnetic drilling machine with a core drill.
  • Large plates and frames: a radial drilling machine.

Don't forget workholding: without a vice or a fixture, even the best machine drills inaccurately. Machine vices, chucks, Morse tapers, flow-drilling tools and core drills can be found in the drilling accessories.

What are metal drilling machines used for?

A stationary metal drilling machine is used for holes that must be accurate and perpendicular: in metal structures, machine parts, car repair shops, maintenance workshops and hobby workshops. With the right drill bit it also drills aluminium, plastic and wood.

Besides drilling, a stationary drilling machine is used for countersinking, reaming and, with a tapping chuck, thread cutting. In production, a well-chosen pillar drilling machine takes over a large part of the work that would otherwise go to the milling machine.
