Metal band saws from Promash

The band saw cuts metal with an endless saw blade — slowly, quietly, accurately and with little waste. If you cut profiles, tubes and solid material to length, this is the machine that will work every day. At Promash there are 76 Optimum and Metallkraft metal band saws with prices from €198 to €23,700.

What types of band saws are there?

Band saws are divided by size and level of automation. The small manual and benchtop models cut up to about Ø125 mm and run on 230 V. Horizontal machines with an arm cut up to Ø355 mm. Semi-automatic and CNC machines cut production runs almost without an operator.

Manual and benchtop band saws

The manual OPTIMUM SQ-V10 band saw costs €198 and cuts round material up to Ø115 mm. The benchtop SQ-V13, OPTIsaw SP 13V and Metallkraft MBS 125 cut up to Ø125 mm, with a 1,440 mm blade. This is a small band saw for a workshop and installation work.

Horizontal band saws with an arm

The OPTIsaw S and SD series — from the SD 200G (Ø180 mm) through the S 275 (Ø225 mm) and S 300DG (Ø255 mm) to the SD 500 (Ø355 mm). The arm descends onto the material and the vice holds it. The SD 200G cuts at an angle from 0 to 45°, and the S 300DG from −45° to 60°.

Semi-automatic and automatic

Metallkraft BMBS HA-DG are semi-automatic, and the BMBS 230 x 280 CNC-G is an automatic machine with CNC for €23,700. They are suitable for production, where hundreds of identical blanks are cut.

How to choose a band saw?

Choosing a band saw starts with the largest profile or round bar you will cut and how many cuts you make per day. For installation work and a workshop, a 230 V benchtop model with a capacity of up to Ø125 mm is enough. For a shop that cuts every day, take a horizontal machine with an arm and 400 V.

  • Cutting capacity. Given for round material and rectangular profile at 0°: for example Ø125 / 125 × 125 mm for the SP 13V, Ø225 / 150 × 230 mm for the S 275.
  • Blade length. From 1,140 mm for the SQ-V10 to 2,750 mm for the SD 310V and even more for the large models. A longer blade wears more slowly.
  • Angle cutting. If you cut frames and structures, look for a model with a swivelling arm or vice.
  • Power supply. The benchtop models and some of the horizontal ones, such as the S 275NV, are for 230 V; the larger ones — for 400 V.
  • Cooling and roller conveyor. For long bars add a roller conveyor from the cutting accessories — the spare blades are there too.

Comparison of popular models

Six band saws that cover almost all needs — from a manual machine for installation work to a horizontal machine for the shop. Prices include VAT, and the full specifications, including the capacity at 45°, are on the page of each model.

What is a metal band saw used for?

The metal band saw is used for cutting profiles, tubes, angle sections, bars and solid material to size. It is at the heart of metal workshops, manufacturers of structures, fences and gates, maintenance workshops and metal warehouses.

Compared with an angle grinder and an abrasive disc, the blade cuts more cleanly, without sparks and with almost no loss of material. If you mostly cut profiles into short pieces and want a faster cut, also look at the metal circular saws.

  • Warranty and post-warranty service.
  • Commissioning and training.
  • Over 200 machines in the showroom in Plovdiv.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a metal band saw cost?

The manual SQ-V10 is €198, benchtop models up to Ø125 mm are from €486 to €791, the horizontal S 275 — from €2,602.80. The largest, the BMBS 230 x 280 CNC-G CNC machine, is €23,700. Prices include VAT.

Which band saw is for 230 V?

All benchtop models, the Optisaw SP 15V and SP 17V, and the horizontal S 275PV and S 275NV.

What blade should I use?
