Universal milling machines from Promash

The universal metal milling machine mills, drills and cuts threads on one machine. This category has 36 Optimum milling machines with prices from €1,350 to €22,740 and four more large models on request. Most people look for a small or benchtop metal milling machine — that is the MH series, but the larger MB, MT and MF are here too.

Which small metal milling machine should I choose?

The small metal milling machine is for a workshop with 230 V and workpieces up to about 500 mm. With us this is the MH series: table from 510 to 700 mm, X travel from 280 to 480 mm, power 0.75–1.5 kW. Choose according to the length of the workpiece and whether you want a digital readout.

MH 20V and MH 20VL

The most affordable models. The MH 20V has a 510 × 180 mm table, 280 mm X travel, a frequency inverter with speeds from 100 to 3,000 rpm and a head that tilts ±60°. The MH 20VL has the same motor, but with a 700 mm table and 480 mm travel.

MH 22V, MH 22VD and MH 20VLD

The MH 22V and MH 22VD have a 0.95 kW motor and a 700 mm table. The MH 20VLD has a DRO 5 digital readout — you read the position without counting the divisions on the scales.

MH 25PV and MH 25SPV

The most powerful 230 V milling machines: 1.5 kW, a 620 mm table and 400 mm X travel. They weigh about 200 kg, which gives less vibration when cutting steel.

When to choose a 400 V milling machine?

When the workpieces are larger, the material is harder or the machine will work every day. The MB 4, MB 4P and MB 4PV milling machines have an 800 mm table and 1.5 kW, and the MT 50 and MT 50E — a 1,000 mm table and 580 mm travel. The MT 50 also has a horizontal spindle.

Higher up are the MF 2-B, MF 4-B, MT 60, MT 100 and MT 130S — large universal milling machines with motors from 2.2 kW upwards for machine shops. The MF 2-B, for example, has an ISO 40 spindle, a 1,246 mm table and a head that rotates ±90°.

What is a universal milling machine used for?

The universal milling machine is used for face milling, slots, pockets and steps, for drilling and boring holes at exact distances and for tapping. It is suitable for repair workshops, maintenance, toolrooms, prototypes and metal hobbyists.

Accuracy comes from workholding: a machine vice, a rotary table, a collet chuck. See the vices for milling machines and the other accessories before ordering the machine. An overview of all milling machines, including CNC, is in the milling machines.
