Centrifugal fans

The centrifugal fan, also called a radial fan or a "snail", draws air in along the axis and throws it out at a right angle under pressure. That is why it is used where the air has to pass through a duct, a filter or an extraction hood. Types of centrifugal fans

The RV models are divided into two series: light ventilation fans (with "P" in the name) and powerful extraction fans with continuous operation and IP54 protection. Both series work in S1 duty — they can run all day.

RV P series — ventilation

RV 145 P is the smallest: 62 W, 600 m³/h and only 51 dB(A). The RV 241 P delivers up to 1860 m³/h, and the RV 270 P — up to 2380 m³/h, both with three airflow settings. These models are 230 V, with IP22 protection and a 4.5 m cable.

RV series — extraction

RV 230 (0.75 kW), RV 300 (1.5 kW), RV 305 (2.2 kW) and RV 350 (3.8 kW) are IP54 and 2850 rpm. They create a high air velocity — from 32 to 46 m/s — and are for extracting fume, dust and chips through a pipe. The RV 305 and RV 350 are 400 V.

How to choose a centrifugal fan?

Choose according to the airflow you need, the diameter of the duct and the power supply. For room ventilation the RV P series is enough. For extraction from a machine or a welding station take a model from the RV series with IP54.

• Airflow. From 600 m³/h (RV 145 P) to 4212 m³/h (RV 350).
• Pipe connection. The inlet is from 100 mm (RV 230) to 180 mm (RV 350), the outlet of the extraction models — from 125 to 180 mm.
• Power supply. RV 145 P, 241 P, 270 P, 230 and 300 are 230 V. RV 305 and RV 350 — 400 V.
• Noise. The P series is from 51 to 79 dB(A). The extraction models — from 80 to 89 dB(A). If the fan is next to people, this matters.

What is a centrifugal fan used for?

The centrifugal extraction fan is placed at the end of a duct and draws contaminated air from a machine, table or cabinet. The RV P series is used for room ventilation and for supplying fresh air.

Typical applications: extraction at welding stations, grinding and polishing machines, sandblasting cabinets, ventilation of workshops and warehouses. For woodworking with a lot of chips see the specialised chip extractors. The models here are industrial — for a kitchen or bathroom look for a household fan.
