The band saw and the circular saw are the two machines with which every cut-to-size job begins. The circular saw cuts straight and fast — boards, planks, battens. Types of band saws and circular saws

The category has four groups: vertical wood band saws, stationary table saws, crosscut and mitre saws (plunge-type, benchtop and hand-held) and a horizontal band saw for cutting logs to size.

Vertical wood band saws

Vertical band saws HBS range from the HBS 231-1 with a cutting height of 90 mm for €318 to the HBS 471 and HBS 473 with a 285 mm height and a 465 mm width.

Stationary table saws

Table saws TKS, BKS and FKS are from €504. Most models have 230 V and 400 V versions — TKS 316, TKS 254 and FKS 255-1300.

Crosscut and mitre saws

The Holzstar KGZ 305 E I, KGZ 2540 Vario and KGZ 3050 Vario are for crosscutting and angle cutting with a 254 or 305 mm blade.

Horizontal band saw

Holzkraft HBBS 400 cuts logs up to 400 mm in diameter and up to 2500 mm in length into boards and beams.

How to choose a band saw or circular saw?

If you mainly make straight cuts in boards and planks — a circular saw. If you cut curves, tall workpieces or resaw thick boards — a band saw. For crosscuts at an angle — a crosscut and mitre saw. For logs — a horizontal band saw.

• Cutting height of the band saw. 90 mm for the HBS 231-1, 152 mm for the HBS 231-2, 165 mm for the HBS 231-3, 225 mm for the HBS 361-2, up to 305 mm for the HBS 400.
• Table size of the circular saw. 800 × 550 mm for the TKS 316, 1000 × 660 mm for the BKS 501.
• Power supply. The TKS 316, TKS 254 and FKS 255-1300 are offered in 230 V and 400 V.
• Capacity of the crosscut saw. The KGZ 3050 Vario cuts 100 × 305 mm at 0°.

What are they used for?

The circular saw is the machine for cutting boards, planks and battens to size in the furniture and carpentry workshop. The wood band saw cuts curved shapes, resaws boards by thickness and machines thick blanks. The crosscut and mitre saw is for accurate angled crosscuts in joinery, skirting boards and frames.
