Types of woodworking machinery

The machines are arranged by operation: planing, cutting, sanding, turning, milling, extraction, gluing and firewood processing. This way each category is one operation in the workshop.

Planer-thicknessers

Planer-thicknessers straighten and thickness the board in one machine — with a working width from 204 to 330 mm, from €504.

Band saws and circular saws

Band saws and circular saws include vertical wood band saws, stationary table saws, plunge saws and a horizontal log band saw.

Sanders

Belt and disc sanders range from the BTS 150 combination sander to KSO edge belt sanders and the ZSM 405 cylindrical sander.

Lathes, moulders and combination machines

Wood lathes with a distance between centres of up to 1185 mm, TF spindle moulders and UMK combination machines that perform five operations in one.

Firewood

Log splitters up to 15.3 t and cradle circular saws for cutting firewood.

How to choose a woodworking machine?

Start with the workpiece: how wide and thick the boards are, how long the blanks are, what cuts you make. Then look at the power supply — most machines are 230 V, the more powerful ones 400 V. And think about extraction from the very first machine.

• Workpiece size. The working width of the planer, the cutting height of the band saw and the size of the circular saw table determine what you can process.
• Power supply. Many models are offered in two versions — 230 V and 400 V, for example the TKS 316 and TKS 254 circular saws.
• Space. If the workshop is small, the UMK combination machine saves space.
• Extraction. Stationary machines have extraction outlets — for example 60 mm on the DH 330-2, 100 mm on the TKS circular saws and 120 mm on the BTS 150. See the chip extractors.
